In a village belonging to the Lango tribe in Northern Uganda, the otem is a gathering place. A resting and eating place in the courtyard, the otem typically has a fire. This gathering place around the fire symbolizes family, community, and togetherness. We seek to build for every child what is found around an otem—family and community, and our logo visually represents an otem: a fire surrounded by circles of children, families, and community. At Otem Collective, we are for families, and we believe that the child is better supported when the whole system, including the family and community, is strong.
